About the Community Bursary Programme
The Valterra Platinum Community Bursary Programme is designed to support learners from host communities who demonstrate academic potential but lack financial means to pursue tertiary education.
The programme focuses on equitable access to education, with priority given to applicants from vulnerable households.

Applicants must reside in communities linked to the following Valterra Platinum operations:
Limpopo
- Amandelbult Mine
- Mogalakwena Mine
- Mototolo Mine
- Polokwane Smelter
- Twickenham Project
North West
- Waterval Smelter
- Mortimer Smelter
- Converter Plant (CP)
- Base Metal Refinery (BMR)
- Precious Metal Refinery (PMR)
Applicants must have completed most of their schooling in one of these host communities.
What the Bursary Covers
The bursary provides financial support for the full duration of the qualification, subject to satisfactory academic performance.
Covered expenses include:
- Tuition fees
- Accommodation
- Allowance
Renewal is reviewed annually based on academic results and compliance with programme conditions.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must meet all of the following criteria:
- South African citizen
- Resident of a Valterra Platinum host community
- Completed most schooling in a host community
- Completed Matric in 2024 or 2025
- Aged 18–25 years
- Accepted or registered for a first undergraduate qualification
- Programme must be SAQA-accredited
- NQF Level 6 or 7
- Full-time qualification completed within 3 years (by December 2028)
- Studying at a registered public or private higher education institution
- Not a child of a Valterra Platinum employee
