Sekhukhune TVET College, in partnership with the Manufacturing, Engineering and Related Services Sector Education and Training Authority (merSETA), is inviting unemployed South African youth to apply for its fully funded Apprenticeship Programmes for the 2026 intake.
These programmes offer a structured 36-month artisan development pathway, combining classroom-based technical training, workplace exposure, and formal trade preparation aligned with national artisan frameworks.

Programme Overview

Available Apprenticeship Fields (2026)
Diesel Mechanic (Apprentice)
Minimum Entry Requirements:
- Grade 12 with Pure Mathematics, or
- NCV Level 4: Automotive Repair & Maintenance (21 subjects completed), or
- N2–N6 Mechanical Engineering (Diesel Trade Theory)
Career Path:
Heavy-duty vehicles, mining equipment, construction machinery, and truck maintenance.
Fitter & Turner (Apprentice)
Minimum Entry Requirements:
- Grade 12 with Pure Mathematics, or
- NCV Level 4: Fitting & Turning (21 subjects completed), or
- N2–N6 Mechanical Engineering (Fitter & Turner Trade Theory)
Career Path:
Precision engineering, machining, manufacturing, and industrial maintenance.
Welder (Apprentice)
Minimum Entry Requirements:
- Grade 12 with Pure Mathematics, or
- NCV Level 2–4: Fabrication (21 subjects completed), or
- N2–N6 Mechanical Engineering
Career Path:
Structural steel fabrication, workshops, infrastructure and construction projects.
Electrician (Apprentice)
Minimum Entry Requirements:
- Grade 12 with Pure Mathematics, or
- NCV Level 4: Electrical Infrastructure Construction (21 subjects completed), or
- N2–N6 Electrical Engineering
Career Path:
Industrial electrical systems, utilities, construction, and manufacturing plants.
Important Conditions
- Applicants must be under 35 years old
- Preference will be given to Sekhukhune TVET College graduates
- All shortlisted candidates will undergo formal assessments
- Successful applicants will be required to sign:
- an ETQA Agreement, and
- a formal Employment Contract
