Educational & Legal:

  • Valid Code C1 driving licence

Physical & Medical Fitness:

  • Be physically and mentally fit
  • Pass a Department Physical Test (on entry and annually)
  • Pass a medical examination (NFPA 1582 standards) pre-placement and post-offer
  • Successfully complete the Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT)

Job Purpose & Key Performance Areas

Learner Fire Fighters perform essential duties related to public safety. All duties are carried out under supervision during the learning phase, in line with the Fire Brigade Services Act (Act 99 of 1987).
