This internship is hosted within the Department of Financial and Compliance Services and is aimed at building future finance professionals for local government.

What You Will Be Exposed To

Interns will rotate across key finance units and assist with:

  • Compliance with GRAP standards and budget processes
  • Drafting financial policies and internal procedures
  • Preparation of budgets, management reports, and financial statements
  • Financial reconciliations and data analysis
  • Revenue and expenditure management
  • Supply Chain Management processes
  • Asset management and insurance administration
  • Capturing and maintaining financial records
  • General finance-related administrative duties

This exposure provides a solid foundation for a career in municipal or public-sector finance.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet all of the following criteria:

  • BCom degree, National Diploma, or equivalent qualification (Accounting major preferred)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in Afrikaans and English
  • Computer literacy, including Microsoft Word and Excel
