Ehlanzeni TVET College, in partnership with GFA Consulting Group and Energy and Water Sector Education and Training Authority, has opened applications for a Battery Based Domestic Energy System Mounters Skills Programme (NQF Level 4).

Only 30 positions are available.

What Is the Battery Energy Storage Skills Programme?

This is a 5-month accredited skills programme aligned with the Quality Council for Trades and Occupations (QCTO).

It focuses on practical installation and maintenance of battery-based domestic energy systems used in homes.

In simple terms:

You will learn how to install and maintain solar battery storage systems.

And you’ll gain basic entrepreneurial skills to start small energy service work.

What Will You Learn?

This programme prepares you for real-world renewable energy work.

Key Skills You’ll Gain:

  • Mounting domestic battery energy storage DC systems
  • Installing solar panels
  • Servicing and maintaining battery systems (BESS)
  • Troubleshooting system faults
  • Replacing faulty electrical components
  • Advising homeowners on safe usage
  • Applying basic business principles

This is technical training with practical outcomes.

Who Can Apply?

You must meet all the following requirements:

Academic Requirements

Either:

  • Electrical Infrastructure Construction (EIC) Level 4
    • Minimum 75% in Electrical Systems and Construction
    • Minimum 75% in Electrical Principles and Practice

OR

  • Electrical Engineering N6
    • Minimum 65% in Electrotechnics

Additional Requirements

  • Must have studied at Ehlanzeni TVET College
  • Must be between 18–35 years
  • Must be unemployed
  • Must not have previously benefited from a SETA-funded learnership or internship

This programme targets unemployed electrical graduates ready for industry entry.

Is There a Stipend?

Yes.

Successful learners will receive a stipend during the 5-month training period.

However:

  • Transport costs are your responsibility
  • Accommodation is not funded
  • The stipend covers personal expenses only
