What Is the Slots Technical Learnership?
This programme focuses on the technical side of casino operations.
Instead of working primarily with guests, you’ll learn how Electronic Gaming Machines (EGMs) operate — and how to maintain them.
Over 12 months, you will:
- Complete an accredited NQF Level 3 qualification
- Gain practical workshop experience
- Work directly with slot machines and gaming equipment
- Develop technical troubleshooting skills
- Build workplace discipline in a real casino environment
By the end, you’ll understand the inner workings of slot machines — from card readers to digital displays.
What Will You Do as a Slot Technical Learner?
This is where things get interesting.
Your daily responsibilities may include:
Maintenance & Testing
- Cleaning and servicing machine components
- Testing card readers, keypads, and iView screens
- Inspecting note acceptors and displays
Equipment Repairs
- Replacing minor parts
- Assisting with gaming kiosk upkeep
- Supporting machine relocations (“clean-up moves”)
Floor Support
- Ensuring machines operate correctly
- Assisting guests with technical queries
