About the Armscor Bursary 2026 Programme
The Armaments Corporation of South Africa (Armscor) supports the South African Defence Force by developing and sustaining defence capabilities. Through its bursary programme, Armscor invests in young South Africans who can bring scarce and critical skills into the defence and engineering sectors.
This bursary supports students for up to four years of study, combining academic funding with exposure to the defence industry.
What the Bursary Covers
The Armscor Bursary covers almost all study and living costs, allowing you to focus fully on your education:
- Full tuition fees at a recognised public university in South Africa
- Prescribed textbooks
- Accommodation
- Meals and daily living expenses
- Monthly allowance for personal needs
- Paid vacation or holiday work (where available)
Fields of Study Funded
Armscor bursaries are awarded to students studying full-time in 2026 in the following priority areas:
- Aeronautical Engineering
- Biochemistry, Chemistry or Physics
- Computer Science, Information Technology, Cyber Security or Artificial Intelligence
- Electrical or Electronic Engineering
- Human Kinetics and Ergonomics Science
- Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics Engineering
- Physics or Astrophysics
- Naval or Marine Engineering

Who Can Apply
To be considered, applicants must meet all requirements below:
- South African citizen
- Currently in Grade 12 (2025) or have completed Matric
- Minimum achievement levels of 5, 6 or 7 in Mathematics, Physical Science and English
- Planning to study full-time in 2026
- Accepted or planning to apply to a public university in South Africa
- Strong academic performance
- Household income of less than R1 million per year
- Genuine interest in working in the defence industry after graduation
- Applicants from previously disadvantaged backgrounds are strongly encouraged
