About the Internship Programme

The Project Management Unit Internship provides graduates with hands-on exposure to municipal infrastructure planning, implementation, and oversight.

Interns will develop:

  • Technical engineering skills
  • Project coordination experience
  • Professional conduct within a local government environment

This programme supports both skills development and service delivery at municipal level.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet all of the following criteria:

  • National Diploma or Degree (minimum NQF Level 6) in:
    • Civil Engineering
    • Related engineering field
  • Qualification must be completed at the time of application
  • Valid Code B driver’s licence
  • Fluency in at least two of the three official Western Cape languages
  • Computer literacy (MS Office)
  • Must meet academic requirements for the field
  • Must not have previously been employed as a Public Sector Intern
  • Willingness to work overtime when required

Key Conditions of Appointment

Shortlisted candidates may be required to undergo:

  • Theoretical and/or practical assessments
  • Driving skills test
  • Baseline medical evaluation

Employment is subject to:

  • A written offer by the Municipality
  • Formal acceptance by the applicant
